FOUNDATION OF NEW ASSOCIATION
On Saturday, 28 November, 2009, the Council of Boxing Australia Inc meeting in Canberra acted to disaffiliate BoxIng NSW (BNSW) as BAI's Member Association for NSW.
On Monday, 30 November, 2009, BAI sponsored the incorporation of a new association in NSW. The new association is named Boxing Australia (NSW) Incorporated ("BA(NSW)"). It is anticipated that BA(NSW) will apply to affiliate with BAI early in 2010.
On Tuesday, 1 December, 2009, the members of the BAI's Board, in their role as the foundation members of BA(NSW), elected an interim Committee to guide BA(NSW) to its first Annual General Meeting ("the Committee"). The Committee is made up as follows:

Mr. Phillip Goodes (Vice President)
Mr. Garry Moore (Secretary)
Mr. Phillip Goodes is also to be BA(NSW)'s Director responsible for enrolments and competitions until the association's first Annual General Meeting.

APPLICATION FOR GENERAL MEMBERSHIP
(Note - this is separate from registering as a boxer, coach or official, see further below for those)On Tuesday, 1 December, 2009, the Committee carried a number of resolutions. In the first place, it appointed Mr. Martin Jones of Registries Ltd in Sydney to coordinate the receipt and processing of BA(NSW) membership applications. Eligibility for general membership of BA(NSW) is regulated by Clause 6 of BA(NSW)'s
Constitution ("the Constitution"). Persons interested in joining BA(NSW) are strongly advised to read the Constitution; and to refer in particular to the clauses in it dealt with in this Notice.
In order to apply for membership of BA(NSW), a person is required by Clause 7.1 of the Consitution:
(a) to complete and sign an application for general membership in
the form set out in Appendix 1 to the Constitution; and
(b) to pay an entrance fee (fixed by the Committee at $10.00) and an initial annual membership subscription fee (fixed by the Committee at $20.00): a total $30.00.
The completed application for membership, together with the fees totaling $30.00, should be posted to Mr. Jones at the following address:

Mr. Jones has been authorised to accept applications and fees on behalf of the Secretary of BA(NSW) as from today.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Committee has agreed to convene the first Annual General Meeting of BA(NSW) on Sunday, 28 February, 2010. The meeting will be held in Sydney (at a place yet to be determined) during the evening (at a time yet to be determined). Full particulars of the Meeting will be provided to the members of BA(NSW) after such particulars have been finalised.
THE ELECTION
Prior to holding the first Annual General Meeting of BA(NSW), an election for all 7 members of the Committee will be conducted by postal ballot in accordance with the rules contained in
Appendix 2 to the Constitution. Prospective candidates in this election should read these rules carefully.
The interim Committee has appointed Mr. Martin Jones to be Returning Officer for the election.
NOMINATIONS FOR THE COMMITTEE
A member of BA(NSW) may nominate for election to the Committee by:
(a) completing a written nomination in accordance with rule 4.5 of the rules in
Appendix 2 to the Constitution; and
(b) giving the nomination in person or by post to the Returning Officer at his above address strictly during the nomination period.
The nomination period will open at 9.00am on Friday, 15 January, 2010, and close at 5.00pm on Friday, 29 January, 2010.
Following the close of the nomination period, the Returning Officer will post voting materials (including a ballot paper and voting instructions) to each member of BA(NSW) eligible to vote in the election. Only persons who have become general members of BA(NSW) prior to 9.00am on 15 January, 2010, will be eligible to vote in the election.
VOTING
The Returning Officer is entitled to receive ballot papers completed by members eligible to vote which are posted to him in accordance with his instructions, and which are received by him during the period commencing at 9.00am on Friday, 5 February, 2010, and closing at 5.00pm on Friday, 19 February, 2010.
Counting of votes and the declaration of the poll must be completed by the Returning Officer by 5.00pm on Friday, 26 February, 2010: 2 days prior to the first Annual General Meeting of BA(NSW).
Following the declaration of the poll, the elected Committee members will, in accordance with clauses 29.6 and 29.7 of the Constitution, elect from their number a President, a Vice President, a Secretary and a Treasurer of BA(NSW).
A person wishing to be registered with BA(NSW) as a boxer, coach, or other boxing official should note that they will need to make separate application to be so registered. Directions for applying to be registered as a boxer, coach or other boxing official are listed separately below.
REGISTERING AS A BOXER
Persons wishing to register as boxers with BA(NSW) must complete an application in the form contained in
Appendix 3 to the Constitution of BA(NSW). The completed form, together with an annual registration fee fixed by the interim Committee of BA(NSW) at $25.00, must be posted to the following address:

Boxers should note that registration as a boxer with BA(NSW) does not make the boxer concerned a general member of BA(NSW). In order to become a general member of BA(NSW) a boxer may separately apply for membership of the association. An application form to be a general member of BA(NSW) is available
here. Only general members may nominate for election to the committee or vote in such elections.
REGISTERING AS A COACH
Persons wishing to register as coaches with Boxing Australia (NSW) must complete:
(a) an application in the form contained in
Appendix 4 to the Constitution of BA(NSW); and
(b) the Member Protection Declaration to be found at
Attachment F4 to the BAI Member Protection By-Law.
The completed forms, together with an annual registration fee fixed by the interim Committee of BA(NSW) at $25.00, must be posted to the following address:

Attachment F4 to the BAI Member Protection By-Law.

Boxing officials (other than coaches) should note that the interim Committee has decided not to fix a registration fee for boxing officials (other than coaches).
Boxing officials should note that registration as a boxing official with BA(NSW) does not make the boxing official concerned a general member of BA(NSW).
